RYSL Coaches,
On behalf the Redding Youth Soccer League Board of Directors and all of the players we serve, thank you for donating your valuable time to coach our children so they are able to develop a continued love of our game. It is our sincere hope that your experience with the league will be a positive one and that the children you are working with will be benefited as well. The RYSL Board continues to strive to make our league the best it can be.
Perhaps our greatest responsibility to the children we serve is their safety. To that end the Board of Directors recently passed a motion that all coaches and assistant coaches would be required to submit their personal information to an independent background checking organization. The company RYSL has contracted with is MyBackgroundCheck.com. This company will be charged with checking for criminal records for each coach and will confidentially submit a "pass" or "fail" to the president of RYSL based on specified criterion developed between MyBackgroundCheck.com and the Redding Youth Soccer League. Each coach's specific rights and obligations are detailed for your review as you enter your personal information via their web site.
Under the coaches area you will find a link to the MyBackgroundCheck.com web site. You should expect the data entry process to take about five minutes and you will be able to track your own background check as well. The background check will be completed within about three days. You will only be contacted by RYSL in the event your check comes back with any conflicts with the RYSL list of criterion.
We ask that you comply with this request at your earliest convenience and thank you in advance for your cooperation.
Sincerely,
Fred Bergstrom
President
Redding Youth Soccer League

A letter from our Division 3 Coordinator
Dear RYSL Member,
My name is Ralph Magnuson and I am the new Division 3 Coordinator for RYSL. I hope you all had a great soccer season and are already looking forward to next season. As we begin to look forward to next season, we are starting the process of selecting the Division 3 coaches for the 2010/11. All coaches, including the returning ones, must apply to coach at the Division 3 level each year. While most coaches has expressed an interest in returning this year, we have already identified several teams that do not have returning coaches. At minimum, the two new U11 teams and the returning U15 Girls teams are looking for new coaches.
The Division III program is a step up in competition from our Division IV program. For more information on what the program is, please see this page. In addition, you can also check out the RYSL D3 policy here.
We will be holding an informational meeting for all Division 3 coaches at the Redding Soccer Park Conference Room on Thursday, February 4th at 7pm. All coaches, new and returning, wishing to apply for a position in the Division 3 program for next season are required to attend. Interested individuals should also complete our coaching application and bring it with them. The application can be downloaded here.
If more than one individual is interested in coaching a particular team, the Division 3 Committee will interview the coaches and then make a recommendation to the board. The RYSL Board makes the final approval of all coaches. I am aiming towards the Board's March meeting (1st Monday in March) for this to happen.
If you are interested in coaching or you have any questions, please contact me by email at d3coord@reddingsoccer.com. From my perspective, being involved in a DIII program is one of the more rewarding experiences you can have in youth soccer. Don't miss this opportunity!
Ralph Magnuson
Division 3 Coordinator, RYSL
