A letter from our Division 3 Coordinator
Dear RYSL Member,
I hope you all had a great soccer season and are already looking forward to next season. For those of you who have interest in coaching in our Division III program next year, I am starting the coach selection process for the 2008/09 soccer season. It is an earlier start than most years but this will allow me a couple months for the selection process and then a couple months for the coaches to get organized for tryouts next Spring.
The Division III program is a step up in competition from our Division IV program. For more information on what the program is, please see this page. In addition, you can also check out the RYSL DIII policy here.
Although we had coaches at every level last year (U12 thru U19), we start the year with a clean slate and all league members have an opportunity to compete for one of the coaching positions. The first step is contacting me and letting me know you are interested and the level/team you are interested in coaching. You can contact me by email at d3coord@reddingsoccer.com.
I will be setting up a meeting in mid December for the coaches that are interested in coaching next year and will require the Division III coaching application (download PDF here) to be complete for that meeting. Where we have multiple coaches seeking the same position, we will have a committee interview the coaches and then make a recommendation to the board. The RYSL board approves the coaches on all teams and I am aiming towards our February meeting (1st Monday in February) for this to happen.
Again, the first step is emailing me your interest. From my perspective, being involved in a DIII program is one of the more rewarding experiences you can have in youth soccer. Don't miss this opportunity!
-Brian Crane, DIII Coordinator

Game Card Sticker |
|
RYSL, through the California Youth Soccer Association, offers an extensive licensing program for coaches. We support the position that in order to better teach our love of the sport to the players in the Redding Youth Soccer Legue, we need a progressive soccer coaching program that develops coaching skills at a rate compatible to that of the players. This also will lay the basic foundation of coaching uniformity between teams and coaches.
A complete explanation of the licensing levels and a full listing of local coaching courses can be found here.

A template for producing your game card stickers can be found here (Microsoft Word file) - please save the file to your hard drive then open. Complete the template and print on Avery Sticker 5168. This will give you a sticker that fits the standard game card saving you lots of time before the game.
