Redding Youth Soccer League - Top 10 Most Asked Questions!

If you can't find an answer to your question here, feel free to contact us at registrar@reddingsoccer.com.

I missed registration and want to mail in my registration, will my child be on a team?
If teams are full, your child will be placed on a waiting list and you will be notified by email - if you provide one. Otherwise if there is space, you bet we'll get them on a team!
At what age can my child start playing?
The Redding Youth Soccer League's policy on minimum age for players is that a player must turn 4 years old no later than the last scheduled playing date for the season that he/she is signing up for.
My child has decided to play school sports (or changed his mind, or whatever), can I get a refund?
There will be no refunds issues afer a child is rostered to a team (typically 4-6 weeks after signups). Please see the policy page under the registration button at left.
I signed my child up to play on (insert date here) and I haven't heard anything. Is he/she on a team?
Typically for the recreation kids (division 4) most practices won't start until 3 weeks or so prior to the season (September for Fall, April for Spring). If you don't hear after that time period, then contact us and we will track the player down for you. If your child was placed on a waiting list and you provided an email address, you will be notified of your child's status.
What equipment do I need to provide my child to play soccer? Each player will need to have proper shinguards and shoes for each practice and game. If you have any questions about the type of equipment, please contact a board member or your coach.

What is Division 3 and where do they play their games?
RYSL offers a vibrant division 3 (developmental) program for those players wishing a more competitive and instructional environment. These teams typically travel to several out-of-area tournaments and face opponents from throughout our District (which stretches from Oregon to Corning).
How do you distribute the kids for Division 4 teams?
All division 4 (recreational) teams are formed on as even a basis as possible, taking into account the players’ school, transportation requirements, age, etc. While we try to accomodate parent requests, they have to be within the bounds of our policies for balance.
Will my child's team have to travel to games this year?
Play in the upper age groups (both division 4 and division 3, U12 and above) may require travel to places such as Susanville, Yreka and Corning.
When do practices and games start?
Fall teams typically start practice in early (older teams) to mid/late (younger teams) August. Your coach should contact you then. Typically the older kids begin play the weekend before Labor Day. The youngers start the weekend after Labor Day.
